Worship and Music

Music Program - Choir & Bells held September - May

The Chancel Choir is a vital part of worship at First United Methodist Church. Combined musical experience and spiritual understanding formulate the goal of this choir.

The Chancel Choir at First UMC is a group of singers with varying experience levels that seeks to praise God through music and leadership in worship. The Chancel Choir sings various styles and periods of music. Members sing at the 8:30am and 11:00am service every Sunday and also share at special services and events throughout the year. Vocal technique and music history and theory are taught in the context of rehearsal. A great opportunity to learn quality, sacred choral music from the past masters as well as music hot off the press!  This group is open to anyone who enjoys singing music of a wide variety of styles. No audition is required.

Rehearsals: Wednesday from 6:00-7:00pm.
Where: The choir room
Sunday Morning: Meet in the choir room at 8:00am and/or 10:30am for worship preparation

Handbell Choir

The members of the handbell choir join together to praise God by the ringing of beautiful music!  Once a month or so, they play for the morning worship services in addition to performing in concert during the year.

Being a member of the handbell choir is really a "team" effort.  In bells, each player is a "soloist" in that they are the only person playing their bell/note.  So... every player counts and being a handbell ringer requires a strong commitment to the group!!

Membership is open to anyone with experience in bell ringing and an ability to read music.  Rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 in the Handbell Room.  If you enjoy playing bells or have a desire to learn please contact Tom Bates.

Rehearsals: Monday from 6:30 -7:30pm.
